Novi Beograd continued

Three more views from Belgrade.

There is something about undergrowth that hooks and reels me in.  The best way to illustrate this is to share a memory.
During a day out as kids, my brother and I scramble and tussle on a country path. I lose my footing and slip into the ditch that runs along side.  Nothing hurts but there is a perceptual and spatial dislocation.  Suddenly I’m ‘off the path’ and there is a strong impression of ‘otherness’; the world and vegetation changes from this different point of view.

I guess I’m always on the look out for the ‘other’ and that experience of ‘otherness’; the simultaneous and invisible reality that runs contiguously with our organised lives. Those views that run counter to the classical canon have far more to say; they address the unknowable.
