Edward Hopper parlait de « sondage », un écho qu’il vérifiait pour se localiser. Pour Ed Ruscha, l’artiste fait « son rapport », il n’a pas le choix, il ne peut pas faire autrement. Ces deux citations expliquent très bien ma démarche et sa motivation. »
“Making art is an activity that should resist compromise, something that needs to be carefully guarded. The subject matter imposes itself; and the paintings are the result. Edward Hopper talks about taking soundings in order to place himself from the echo; Ed Ruscha sees himself ‘reporting’ as making a record of whatever it is that strikes him. It’s something he has to do. Both these ideas say a lot about my own motivation”
