Ayant montré des petits formats dernièrement à l’atelier du 6 à Chateauneuf sur Charente je prépare le prochain exposition fin avril. Entre le 29 avril et le 28 mai vous trouverez mon travail à l’Espace Culturel des Tanneries. C’est belle espace se trouve en Normandie, à la Ferrière-sur-Risle, 3 route de Conches 27760.
Le vernissage sera samedi 29 avril à 11h et l’exposition est ouvert les samedis et dimanches de 14h à 18h.
C’est l’occassion d’installer des formats plus important et le lieu permet un accrochage qui repond bien au tableaux. Mon intention c’est que les tableaux soient en relation les uns avec les autres. Certes, ils fonctionnent individuellement mais je les ai toujours imaginé comme une installation. Depuis un moment je les regroupe sous le nom de “Dance to the Music of Time” (Danse de la Vie Humaine ) faisant référence au tableau peintre N Poussin et l’écrivain Anthony Powell. On y retrouve un intéret pour la peinture figuratif et sa capacité d’être à la fois descriptive; puis aussi abstraite où le sujet reste la peinture elle même. Je remercie Jean-Louis Roux pour son article qui éclair cette idée lors de mon exposition à la TEC à Voiron.
Having shown small paintings at L’atelier du 6 in Chateauneuf sur Charente, the upcoming show will feature larger paintings. From 29 April to 28 May I’ll be showing at l’Espace Culturel des Tanneries. It’s a beautiful space located in La Ferrière sur Risle in Normandy.
The private view is on saturday 29th april at 11h and the show is open saturdays and sundays from 14h to 18h. It’s a great opportunity to hang the work in a way I’d want to display it. Much as the paintings function on their own I always consider that they exist in relationship to one another. For a while I’ve grouped these paintings as a series entitled “Dance to the Music of Time” referencing both Poussin’s painting and Anthony Powell. One of the themes is the exploration of the descriptive power of figurative painting but also the formal qualities of painting itself.
